How much time is wasted scrolling through endless posts on Social Networks?

How many hours are wasted Streaming Next Episode after Next Episode late into the night without ever coming up for air?

What does this state of constant entertainment do to our minds?

Entertainment serves a purpose. A means to an end.

Digital media has made it a state of being, without end. Entertain me. Distract me. Fill this time. Period.

Much like you can go shopping to purchase necessities, or you can shop to be in a state of consuming.

Much can be said about the cultural value of the art forms in entertainment.

But engagement in the arts, and enteratainment need to be intentional.

Intention connotes action, engagement, and investment.

There is enough friction in the intentional act to allow free choice and to choose again differently.

Reading a book or newspaper, going to the movies, going to a show or game.

These are all ways to be entertained, to consume media without being consumed by media.
